Gyokuro & Kabusecha Green Tea
Gyokuro and kabusecha are both premium grades of green tea known for their umami flavors and elegant aromas. Gyokuro is one of the highest quality green teas produced and is consumed in a manner similar to wine tasting, in order to fully appreciate its seaweed-like aroma and sweet, umami taste. Kabusecha tea's name refers to the process in which the tea plant is grown - shaded with straw blankets (kabuseru) for about 10 days. Kabusecha can be described as a hybrid of sencha and gyokuro - it has the umami flavor of gyokuro paired with a soothing aroma and astringency characteristic of sencha.
