Mullberry-leaf tea from Shizuoka Pref.
Kuwacha is a herbal tea made from the leaves of the mulberry tree (Morus spp.). It is a fresh, naturally sweet and fruity herb tea. It has dominant herbal, green, leafy tones complemented by subtle hints of fruity jam notes. Besides its pleasant taste, Kuwacha is warming both the body and the heart, and consumed for its amazing health benefits.
Health benefits of Kuwacha:
Kuwacha has immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties and is exceptionally rich in Antioxidants. It may contribute to cardiovascular health by helping to lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol levels, and improve overall heart function. Kuwacha is often associated with weight management, as it may help control appetite and reduce the absorption of sugars and fats, contributing to weight loss efforts.
✻ It's important to note that while mulberry tea has these potential benefits, individual responses may vary.
Processing Mulberry leaves:
In the summer, the mulberry stems are cut and at the factory, the leaves are separated from the stem and pressed to loose moisture. Following this, the leaves are steamed and rolled, and finally, dried.
The Kuwacha leaves go as much as 10 steeps. The tea is so lasting that you can easily serve a large company of guests or enjoy it throughout the day. It is also extremely tolerant. Even if forgotten, it won't turn bitter.
