Handmade teapot by Gōichirō Ishiguro
Handmade ceramic teapot by Gōichirō Ishiguro.
Made of Shigaraki clay.
Kannyu, literally meaning crackle appears when the rates of expansion and contraction of the clay and the glaze is different during firing. As the kiln cools, the glaze shrinks more than the clay, and it cracks. When cool, the pot is dipped into water tinted with Japanese Horse Chestnut. The color seeps in the crackles, making them more stand out.

Initiation:
Before first use, rinse the teapot with lukewarm (not hot) water, then let it dry completely!
Usage:
Porcelain is sensitive to sudden temperature changes, never expose the teapot to open flame! Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like stove, and never use it in microwave or oven.
Cleaning:
Rinse it well after every use. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your teapot. Never use bleach!
Avoid using dishwasher or dryer!
Avoid scrubbing the teapot.
Storage:
After use, always let the teapot dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, it might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.

Very well made with perfect fit and finish at a very reasonable price. Perfect for Chinese green tea. With the glazed interior I think Chinese tea tastes better than it does when brewed in unglazed Chinese and Taiwanese clay pots. That's why I chose this one and it does not disappoint. No leaks or drips either.
