Three-piece Japanese tea set
The set is made of red clay and fired in a reduction chamber, where the clay carbonizes and gives the surface a matte black patina.
The teapot and the cups have a yōhen finish. Yōhen in Japanese means "changed by the flame". When the ceramics are fired, the heat fluctuates in the kiln, which results in color changes on the surface. This makes every piece unique with the impression of randomness, which has both aesthetic and philosophical appeal to the Japanese.
The teapot has a special feature. The master cuts the back side of the rim inside, which makes the cleaning much easier.
