Niu Lan Keng (牛栏坑) located in the Wuyi Mountains is considered one of the most prestigious tea-growing regions in China, and the teas produced here are precious and highly regarded, often sought after by tea connoisseurs around the world. The Golden Chair (黄金椅) on the world heritage Wuyi Mountains is a famous landmark known for its unique natural formation. It refers to a large, rock-like chair-shaped structure believed to have a good Feng Shui. The area where this tea was grown is on the top of the Niu Lan Valley which has a unique microclimate with plenty of direct sunlight and clean waters, while the soil is rich in minerals, giving the tea its distinctive mineral taste. This tea is also known by its nickname, "beef" or "cow back meat," as in old times, beef was considered one of the most prestigious types of meat.
TASTE NOTES
Both in its fragrance and flavor, it is a complex and captivating tea. The leaves are dominantly fruity, similar to dried prunes, with a rich cacao aroma weaving through. The wet leaves are very close to fresh vanilla sticks. This liquor itself has a rich amber color and an spicy-earthy flavor reminding of a deep and dark forest. Following this charismatic intro, the aftertaste is mellow, the sharp earthiness softening into a silky fruity finish. It’s the perfect choice for a chilly autumn or winter day, offering a comforting and warming effect.
Rock teas age beautifully, with their flavor becoming deeper and more complex over time.

STEP 1) Warm your teapot. Pour boiling water into a gaiwan or teapot, let it sit for a little while, then discard all the water.
STEP 2) Fill your pot with tea leaves in a 3g/120ml ratio, pour boiling water on them, and brew for 30 seconds.
STEP 3) Serve. Pour the tea into a pitcher, and then into cups.
STEP 4) Brew again.
