Excellent, well-liked thin tea (usucha)
A matcha with peanut, grassy, mildly tart flavors, giving way to a lingering sweetness with just a hint of bitter after-taste. This tea boasts a more full-bodied, a more intense flavor than the Aoarashi and Chigi no Shiro varieties. And it is far more sophisticated than the Isuzu matcha. Distinctly present in this tea are the sweeter flavors of higher quality teas.
The meaning of Yugen "又玄" :
Marukyu Koyamaen received this name from Hashimoto Gyōin, the former head priest of Yakushi-ji Temple. It is inspired by the words of Laozi, '玄之又玄、衆妙之門' ('Gen no mata gen, shūmyō no mon'). This is a philosophical elucidation on the profoundness of something so vast that it is both deeper than the deepest possible depth, and better than even the best of the best.

STEP 1) Put 2g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku scoop) matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2) Pour 70 ml (2.4 fl oz) 80℃ (176°F) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 3) Whisk with a chasen (tea whisk) until foamy.
❖ Before Step 1, warm up the tea bowl with hot water, then dry it with a cloth to create the perfect temperature so make the most delicious matcha with a fresh scent while preparing. (Optional)
❖ To prevent clotting of the matcha powder, sift it through a fine strainer before use. (Strongly recommended)
❖ After the matcha is done, drink it immediately, because as it cools down it gets more and more bitter. (Recommended)
❖ Freshness is the most important thing for the enjoyment of Matcha. It is best to use up the tea within one month of opening. (Strongly recommended)
EXTRA TIP
❖ Try iced matcha: pour the finished matcha over ice.

I love this matcha as a latte. Its nutty character comes out just great. And it works very well with soy milk.

Dissapointing tea. Buy this only if you are a beginner to matcha. The tea is bland and lackluster. If you are like me and you like matcha with a some substantial flavor, buy shoukaku or Zuisen no Shiro On the otherhand. If you like matcha that not bitter and bland, buy this one. If you try to find non-bitter matcha, its easy to get stuck in a total non-flavor mode. Just not for me

So far this one is my favourite matcha alongside Kinrin, very nice toasted taste, almost no bitterness

Has a nice sort of astringency, almost tangy flavor. This matcha has a lovely flavor profile. It's more nuanced than Chigi no shiri and Isuzu and very forgivable no matter how you make it. Out of all the matcha experiences from Marukyu Koyamaen, this is my favorite. I always make sure I have a can of it ready.

Good price for such a rich taste matcha.

An excellent matcha. Very prompt shipping, with a very competitive price structure especially for us in the United States (compare e.g with wayoftea, ebay). Good selection of stock that expires after a reasonably long time.

I agree I do not care for this Matcha .It has to me, a bitter aftertaste. It is prrof you get what pay for.The least expensive Matcha I have ever bought from Sazen(or elsewhere) and it shows. will probably give the rest of the can away.Too bad we cant get samples before we buy
