SAND ROASTED fine green tea stems
Karigane Usu Hōjicha is a very balanced tea. The toasty-nutty and sweet aromas are perfectly complementing each other. The fragrance is sweet and almondy, while the tea is a harmonic blend of toasty notes and gentle creaminess, faintly reminding of a mug of sweet macchiato. This tea has a lasting, steady aroma throughout both infusions. It indulges you with a truly relaxing, comforting tea time.
Karigane Usu Hōjicha is first flush tea stems roasted twice. First on their own in an oven, and then a second time with sand. After the roasting, the leaves are ventilated and sifted to remove all the sand. Sand helps distribute the heat evenly, which makes the flavor steady and balanced.
This hōjicha is very permissive. If you steep it with less water, the flavor will turn a little denser, with more water a little gentler, but either way, it will never get bitter.
Thanks to the deep roasting, hōjicha is low in caffeine and gentle to the stomach. It is ideal for the elderly and children as well.

Lovely little tea. Very good price quality mark. A very hazelnut aroma with a nice creamy texture. It lingers for a good amount time. I like to drink it when it's way too late for a regular tea due to it's low caffeine content. It's also a fun tea to give to people how are not such avid tea drinkers. There always surprised by its taste. Personally I like going hard on this tea and do some really long and hot infusions but you can just as well do a more traditional gung fu brew with this one.
