Bluish-White (青白磁) teapot from the Yoshimura Toen kiln in Higashi Sonogi-gun, Nagasaki prefecture.

Hasamiyaki is a type of porcelain first made in Hasami town. The technique was brought from Korea and looks back 400 years of history. The porcelain is fired at a very high temperature, and as the surface vitrifies, it is suitable for all classes of teas.

Thanks to its flat and wide shape, this teapot is particularly suitable for premium quality teas, because as they have larger space to open, the leaves graze each other less, releasing less catechin, thus revealing the tea's true sweetness and gentle elegance.

Make sure you do not fill the teapot entirely full when brewing tea. The pour is best when the teapot is about 70-80% full.

Handling precautions

Initiation:
Before first use, rinse it with warm water, then let it dry completely!

Usage:
Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like a stove, and never use it in a microwave or oven.

Cleaning:
Tea stain is the natural part of a teapot's "maturing process", but if you prefer to avoid it, rinse the teapot well after every use, do not let the tea leaves sit in it for too long. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your pot. Never use bleach!
Avoid using a dishwasher or dryer!
To clean the built-in strainer, run water backward from the spout, or use a toothbrush or toothpick.

Storage:
After use, always let it dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, it might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.
