Japanese green tea buds with a mellow taste
Green tea of Uji tea fields.
Mecha is derived from leaf buds and tips of the early crops. This Gyokuro Mecha is harvested in early spring from covered tea fields and renowned for its depth of flavor, considerable astringency and bitter green aftertaste. This tea can be steeped many times.

If the tea is prepared as recommended, ie 5 g / 200 ml, 60 ° C / 60 sec., it gives a pleasant tea "with a drop of cream" practically without bitterness and astringency. In my opinion, this is an very good price / performance ratio. Traditional preparation as gyokuro in the ratio 1 g / 10 ml, 40 ° C, 3 min. gives a distinctive tea with noticeable bitterness and a taste reminiscent of nettle.
