Handmade and hand-painted Kiyomizuyaki sencha ceremonial teapot
Blue and white porcelain teapot from Takano Shōami.
The teapot is decorated with iconic flowers and plants from Japan's four seasons like winter cammelias, plum blossoms, bamboo, and Chrystanthemum. The beloved motif of a bird sitting on plum tree is an auspicious symbol of great luck.
Kyo or Kiyomizu pottery looks back on 400 years of history and is now a symbol of Kyoto. To serve the desire of Aristocrats, tea masters, and culinary specialists of the era, Kyo or Kiyomizu pottery has incorporated design and artistry not only from Japan but also from China and the Korean Peninsula. Even up to now exquisite artistry and excellent craftsmanship are core qualities of Kyo ware: each piece is modeled and decorated carefully by hand.

Initiation:
Before first use, rinse the cup with lukewarm (not hot) water, then let it dry completely!
Usage:
Porcelain is sensitive to sudden temperature changes, never expose the teapot to open flame! Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like stove, and never use it in microwave or oven.
Cleaning:
Rinse it well after every use. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your teapot. Never use bleach!
Avoid using dishwasher or dryer!
Avoid scrubbing the teapot.
Storage:
After use, always let the teapot dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, it might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.
