Tokoname teapot with antique surface

This dark and rustic surface is achieved by a glaze that is Master Junzō's own innovation. This glaze is similar to engobe in viscosity, which means the teapot is still considered unglazed in its aroma-absorbing qualities. The glaze can vary from dark matte to dark golden brown.

Initiation:
Before first use, rinse it with hot water, then let it dry completely!
Usage:
Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like stove, and never use in microwave or oven.
Cleaning:
Tea stain is the natural part of a teapot's "maturing process", but if you prefer to avoid it, rinse the teapot well after every use, do not let the tea leaves sit in it for too long. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your pot. Never use bleach!
Avoid using dishwasher or dryer!
To clean the built-in strainer, run water backwards from the spout, or use a toothbrush or toothpick.
Storage:
After use, always let it dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, it might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.
Non-glazed ceramic tea pots absorb scents and flavours, so only prepare one kind of tea in them (green tea, black tea, roasted tea, etc).

This is a perfect kyusu if you are looking for something more crude and close to the nature. I purchased it along with yuzamashi and teacups matching the entire set. The product looks even better in real life than on the pictures. I definitely recommend this teapot!

Absolutely everything I was looking for: In my monastery, brothers often drink 普洱 pǔ'ěr tea, and I was looking for 1) a dedicated pǔ'ěr pot that could serve a small party (four to six, let's say), 2) an unglazed teapot especially so that it can become 'well-seasoned' over many years of use, 3) a round pot to allow pǔ'ěr cake pieces to expand, and 4) a fine filter. This pot is all that and more; I wasn't expecting it to arrive looking so much better than the photos (I received a darker one). One thing I'm learning, a year later still, is to be more mindful of the shape—I occasionally knock it over or place it carelessly and it rolls around a bit. I only use this teapot for my green tea and this teapot improve the taste of the tea. Like it very much.

A very nice piece of art. I've never enjoyed drinking my green tea as much as with this teapot. I also love the patina of this teapot. The only thing I have to complain about (if it is a real complaint) is, that the dripping water leaves traces on the patina after using.
