Xi Hu Long Jing

2024 Green Tea from Zhejiang Province, China

Xi Hu Long Jing Xi Hu Long Jing Xi Hu Long Jing Xi Hu Long Jing

Xi Hu Long Jing is one of the most renown Chinese green teas, and it has unquestionable fame for a reason. With its charismatic aromas and sweetness, it definitely stands out among green teas.

The aroma is a sweet blend of roasted hazelnuts and corn. It foretells the amazing nutty sweetness of the tea. Macadamia nuts, sugar-topped hazelnuts, and vanilla are in sweet harmony in this silky, jade-green liquor.

This Xi Hu Long Jing is made of fresh Longjing #43 Cultivar from Xihu District in Hangzhou. Longjing #43 Cultivar by recent government standard regulations to protect the brand, is one of the three cultivars that can be used to make genuine Xi Hu Long Jing.

The leaves are long, thin, and delicate. They easily slip through the opening of the gaiwan, so a teapot or a shiboridashi might be a better choice to brew.

STEP 1) Warm your teapot. Pour boiling water into a gaiwan or teapot, let it sit for a little while, then discard all the water.
STEP 2) Fill your pot with tea leaves in a 3g/100ml ratio, pour the boiling water, and brew for 30 seconds.
STEP 3) Serve. Pour the tea into a pitcher, and then into cups.
STEP 4) Brew again.

❖ For the second infusion, steep it for about half the time of the first infusion. For every other infusion steep for about 20 seconds.
❖ Make sure to open the lid of the teapot between infusions, to prevent the leaves from cooking.
❖ This is how we recommend brewing this tea, but we all have our preferences, so try experimenting to find the way you like it the most.
