Umehara Tatsuo's artwork.

A stunning, unique tea set from the Shōryū Kiln. The teapot was fired in a reduction chamber; inside, it is matte black and unglazed. After firing, the teapot and the cups were painted with a so-called Echizen lacquer technique. Learning this refined coating technique is a long process only the best craftsman master. The red lacquer coating is mixed with gold powder. The cups are lacquered inside and out.

The teapot is precise, with a beautiful water flow.

The set comes in a paulownia box signed by the artist.

Place of Origin: Tokoname, Japan

Handling precautions

Initiation:
Before first use, rinse the teapot and the cups with hot water, then let them dry completely!

Usage:
Avoid placing the set on hot surfaces, like a stove, and never use it in the microwave or oven.

Cleaning:
Tea stain is a natural part of a teapot's "maturing process", but if you prefer to avoid it, rinse the teapot well after every use, and do not let the tea leaves sit in it for too long. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid. Never use bleach!
Avoid using the dishwasher or dryer!
Do not scrub the teapot or the cups, because it can damage the lacquer surface.
To clean the teapot's built-in strainer, run water backward from the spout, or use a toothbrush or toothpick.

Storage:
After use, always let the teapot and the cups dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, they might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.

Non-glazed ceramic tea pots absorb scents and flavors, so only prepare one class of tea in them (green tea, oolong tea, black tea, etc).
