Matcha Jurei

Entry grade tea for making usucha (thin tea) that is well-liked among matcha beginners

Matcha Jurei Matcha Jurei

Jurei is our recommended entry-level, slightly tart Hokoen usucha tea. It can be consumed straight, prepared in the traditional manner or in various matcha-based styles. This is our best-value tea, offering all the positive benefits of rewardingly ground green tea.

The meaning of Jurei "寿令" :
「寿」(“ju”) is a character that often carries meanings of long life and longevity, while「令」(“rei”) is a character associated with respectability, goodness, and honorific titles as well. Taken all together, this tea's name is filled with feelings of respect for others and of wishes for long, healthy lives.

Please note, that Sazen Tea does not keep this product in stock. We get all matcha and tea powder fresh from the factories only after an order is placed for it on our website, and this process can take a few days. Thank you for your patience!

How to prepare

STEP 1) Put 2g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku scoop) matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2) Pour 70 ml (2.4 fl oz) 80℃ (176°F) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 3) Whisk with a chasen (tea whisk) until foamy.

❖ Before Step 1, warm up the tea bowl with hot water, then dry it with a cloth to create the perfect temperature so make the most delicious matcha with a fresh scent while preparing. (Optional)
❖ To prevent clotting of the matcha powder, sift it through a fine strainer before use. (Strongly recommended)
❖ After the matcha is done, drink it immediately, because as it cools down it gets more and more bitter. (Recommended)
❖ Freshness is the most important thing for the enjoyment of Matcha. It is best to use up the tea within one month of opening. (Strongly recommended)

EXTRA TIP
❖ Try iced matcha: pour the finished matcha over ice.

Cl******, 2024-07-25 04:17 JST,

It is a nice beginner matcha that froths very easily. This one has strong astringency and tends on the bitter side for the aftertaste. I would recommend it for daily lattes and on its own only if you like astringency and bitterness at the end. The packaging is not much of my liking, I don't feel the plastic lid air tights but I can be very wrong and the matcha comes in a bag with a little dehumidifier packet. Be very careful when transferring from bag to the can.

Ke******, 2020-03-07 03:20 JST,

I’m very happy with my purchase! I’m a beginner at matcha & I was looking for pure and good quality matcha free from sugars & other additives that are sold by other distributors. This was the first matcha I bought to make at home; it is affordable, the quality is excellent, and the flavor is perfect!
