Heavy Roasted Si Ji Chun

Taiwanese oolong tea

Heavy Roasted Si Ji Chun Heavy Roasted Si Ji Chun Heavy Roasted Si Ji Chun

The floral aromas typical of spring harvests are mixed with strong toasty and full-bodied notes. The unique character of this tea comes from the idea of taking an already high quality spring oolong tea and applying extra strong roasting, upgrading its flavours. The result is truly wonderful and captivating. The tea leaves exude a sweet fragrance reminiscent of dried fruits, fused with a sweet, toasty nut essence.

The not-yet-brewed tea leaves exude a sweet fragrance reminiscent of dried fruits, fused with a sweet, toasty essence. The notes of dried acerola and cherries blend with the aroma of mixed nuts.

Upon the first brews, Si Ji Chun reveals a sweet and fruity freshness, harmoniously balanced with subtle toasty undertones. The tea is a satisfying interplay of apple, pomegranate, and dried apple notes intertwined with macadamia nuts and sweet brittle. The tea leaves a pleasant, lingering aftertaste of violet.

The later brews change into a revitalizing and citric infusion, with a fresher and more verdant profile. The earlier nuttiness mellows, allowing the verdant notes to take center stage.

30 sec.~

STEP 1) Warm your teapot. Pour boiling water into a gaiwan or teapot, let it sit for a little while, then discard all the water.
STEP 2) Rinse. Put the tea leaves in your vessel, pour hot water over them and then discard the water quickly. This step is for "waking the leaves" a little bit.
STEP 3) Brew. Pour boiling water on your rinsed tea leaves and brew for 30 seconds.
STEP 4) Serve. Pour the tea into a pitcher, and then into cups.
STEP 5) Brew again.

❖ After the first few infusions, you can increase the steeping time (to about 35-40 seconds).
❖ Make sure to open the lid of the teapot between infusions, to prevent the leaves from cooking.
❖ This is how we recommend brewing this tea, but we all have our preferences, so try experimenting to find the way you like it the most.
