In Chinese medicine, foods are classed based on their energetic properties and their effects on the body. They are categorized as heating, cooling, drying, or damp. Balancing these properties is essential for maintaining health and prevent illness or disease.
This tea is made of ingredients that are believed to be yin, or cooling in Chinese medicine. Cooling foods are often used to clear heat, reduce inflammation, and promote a sense of calmness.
The tea is delicious both prepared hot or cold. To cool down in the summer heat, make a cold brew. Put the teabag into 500 ml water and let it sit in the fridge for 5-6 hours.
