Natsue Nakatsugi is made by a japanese traditional craftman, Hiromi Fujimura from Akita prefecture.
Nakatsugi (中次) is a type of matcha container used for Usucha (thin tea).
This product is offerred by Fujiki Denshiro Shoten Co., Ltd. which is famous about cherry bark craftworks. Their company is located in Kakunodate, Senboku city, Akita prefecture.
Natsume is a tea ceremony tool, made to hold the matcha needed for the ceremony. While preparing for the ceremony, the tea master measures the needed amount of matcha powder into the natsume, that was designed especially for this; since it is not for storage but to present the matcha to the guests, it has a loose lid that is easy to remove and is not airtight.

Handling precautions
- Do not wash! Only clean with a dry cloth.
- The product is clean when delivered, there is no need to wash upon receiving it. Green tea has a disinfecting effect, so washing after holding tea is also unnecessary.
- Only use a tea caddy for one type of tea.
Beautiful natsume, the craftsmanship is amazing, and it has me gazing at it, enjoying the beautiful shimmer of the bark. The lid fits so perfectly and there seems to be no errors as it satisfyingly slides on. For those who do not know, this is a tool that is used in tea ceremony. The container is not supposed to be air tight, it's not for long term storage, and is only for holding the pre-sifted and pre-measured matcha powder when presenting the tea during the ceremony.

Looks nice but not very practical. The lid is very loose and there is no inside lid. For this high price I cannot recommend this natsume.
