Handling precautions
Initiation:
Before first use, rinse it with hot water, then let it dry completely!
Usage:
Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like stove, and never use in microwave or oven.
Cleaning:
Tea stain is the natural part of a teapot's "maturing process", but if you prefer to avoid it, rinse the teapot well after every use, do not let the tea leaves sit in it for too long. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your pot. Never use bleach!
Avoid using dishwasher or dryer!
To clean the built-in strainer, run water backwards from the spout, or use a toothbrush or toothpick.
Storage:
After use, always let it dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, it might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.
Non-glazed ceramic tea pots absorb scents and flavours, so only prepare one class of tea in them (green tea, black tea, roasted tea, etc).
Love it. It's a beautifully-crafted teapot with a fast, precise pour. The value is insane. If you only had $40 to buy one teapot for the rest of your life, this would be a top contender.

This exceeded my expectations, above and beyond. The clay's nice & dense and the pot's a beauty to look at. The surface retained some swirls from throwing on the kiln, which is faint enough to be mostly un-noticeable yet still visible enough to be seen when closely inspected. I personally love this, it adds a bit of character and depth to the piece.
Concerning a previous review mentioning the water capacity - mine is 116ml to the MAX (1g water = 1ml) with the lid on. Since clay does shrink in the kiln, yours may be a bit more, it may be a bit less. This has closer to 100ml capacity when leaves are in the pot. If you're not okay with this I would suggest the larger one.
The strainer is great and it pours quickly with no dribble. The lid IS a very tight fit, and covering the lid's hole halts pouring effectively. This isn't really important to me but it's very nice to see nonetheless.
The color of the clay in person is closest to the bottom-right photo on what I have attached.

Attractive and great small kyusu. Well formed with tight fitting lid.
Anyone complaining about capacity needs to understand what “full capacity without tea leaves” means. I filled mine to the lip where the lid rests and it held right at 120 grams (ml) of water.

Actual usable water capacity is about 92ml. Very disappointed with the product description.

Amazing quality for the price. I am a Buddhist monk, and after saving up enough pocket money, I have bought this exact kyusu for my mentor and another one for a dear brother (so, i.e., I have purchased this kyusu thrice), and they have held up beautifully for many years of daily use. The size is perfect for personal, intimate contemplation and compact enough to take safely on many of the hikes we do in the Great Hidden Mountain. This and its red and black clay equivalents in small and large sizes from Sazen are a happy marriage between price, functionality, and simplicity.
