Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi

Tokoname teapot for premium Japanese green tea

Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi Jin Mogake Takatsuki Shiboridashi

Tanikawa Jin's art work.

The pattern on the surface is achieved with "Mogake technique" developed back in the 19th century. The teapot is wrapped with Amamo seaweed, which reacts with the clay and oxidizes during firing. The result is this unique finish, bearing the impression of randomness, which has both aesthetic and philosophical appeal to the Japanese.

An ideal teapot for Japanese Gyokuro.

Place of origin: Tokoname, Japan

Handling precautions

Initiation:
Before first use, rinse it with hot water, then let it dry completely!

Usage:
Avoid placing it on hot surfaces, like a stove, and never use it in a microwave or oven.

Cleaning:
Tea stain is the natural part of a teapot's "maturing process", but if you prefer to avoid it, rinse the teapot well after every use, and do not let the tea leaves sit in it for too long. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your pot. Never use bleach!
Avoid using the dishwasher or dryer!
As you touch it, your hands' natural moisture might leave stains on the surface. You can easily remove that by gently rubbing it with your fingers.

Storage:
After use, always let it dry completely, for if stored away while still wet, it might develop an unpleasant smell or mold.

Non-glazed ceramic tea pots absorb scents and flavors, so only prepare one class of tea in them (green tea, black tea, roasted tea, etc).

Love using this when I want a punchy/flavorful session. Its a great piece to really test and concentrate the full potential flavors of green tea. The pedestal design makes for easy handling and also just looks fantastic.

Оригинальный удобный шиборидаши (сиборидаси для пуристов). Хорошо лежит в руке.

This Shiboridashi is simply stunning. It's my fourth and each of them has its own character in terms of handling. This beautiful piece is special in as far as it is, because it is so small and so incredibly precise, it is particularly slow and for me ideal pours out the Gyokuro.  If it is said that the gifted universe is in the last drop, then this Shiboridashi has opened the door to a new universe for me. I bow to the craftsmanship inherent in this ceramic and thank Sazen for allowing me to use this beautiful piece.

Very nice little teapot, fits good into my hand and is perfect for Gyokuro for one person. Thanks to Sazen for providing photos and volumes of the available pieces, I chose the one with about 80ml volume which gives about 50ml tea - perfect for me! The tea flows out quite nicely if you don't move the teapot before and most of the leaves stay on the bottom. The taste was very good every time. The foot is very practical and the whole piece of art very aesthetic and a joy to use. I would definitely buy it again.

Works well, looks nice. The foot is practical. It does not interfere with the taste of tea. Suitable for gyokuro for one person.

Very exquisite teapot in design, form and function. Light almost like a feather. This is my second teapot from Sazen and I am very well pleased with this artisan ware. It pours the tea beautifully from the spout without any leakage from the lid and rim. The seal is of the lid to the base becomes a vacuum with the heat, hence the pouring flows from the spout. This type of seal in a teapot can only be achieved when the artist takes into consideration the actual function his/her creation. Beautiful teapots are pleasing to the eye but if its function is compromised then no matter how high quality the tea you brew in it will not yield its potential flavor. The teapot may be shallow but it is excellent for the gyokura type teas. It allows the leaves to swim but not soak in the water. Just enough of swimming to yield the flavor of the tea. Thank you to the artist of this teapot and to Sazen for bring it to us. Sazen also has excellent customer service, and response time to questions and the mailing is also swift for international mail.
