The wet leaf smells intensely of butter and a little grass with a light trace of roasted nuts. The first infusion, prepared as recommended, has an intense umami aroma, a taste reminiscent of a good quality gyokuro (i.e. in the direction of 'cooked brussels sprouts' - dimethyl sulphide) and a slight secondary sweetness. The following infusions are intensely milky-grassy. The degree of bitterness depends on the water, but is generally lower. Definitely interesting material, price corresponds to quality.

i have given a review of this tea before, but now i have gotten to know it for a little while longer, and i have to mention the tea's energy! It is actually a big mood changer, more so than the other teas, even the other kabusecha. Im guessing that this tea must have a lot of L-theanine, because whenever i decide to enjoy some Unjo, regardless if im paying attention to flavour or not, this tea always makes me really happy after about 15 minutes for no apparent reason. Ive compared it to GABA and other teas and Unjo still stands out in this way for me :) everytime i drink a cup, its basically a cup of smiles.

The dry leaf in a warmed kyusu has an aroma of creamy buttered mashed potatoes. The wet leaf aroma adds vegetal notes. When tasted the first sensation is a blast of warm umami followed by a fresh leafy flavor. Subsequent infusions bring out some mild marine qualities. A very luxurious tea

I would order this tea again. It was a very high quality sencha with a sweet, slightly bitter, and strong melon and umami flavor. The tea leaves all looked spectacular and of high quality both before and after brewing. Marukyu tea continues to impress me with their quality products.

my favourite sencha so far, more so than teki teki. This particular sencha is very full bodied and sweet, very creamy too. For me, this is what I love most, and I know ill be coming back to this one often!

The smell of the wet leaf is very intense, umami with a trace of miso. The first infusion has an intense taste of umami + miso (and a little seaweed), sweet, with a pleasant slight bitterness and grassy aftertaste. Really interesting tea.
