Handmade matcha tea bowl handmade and hand-painted by master Yamaoka Zenkō. The iconic snow-covered Mt Fuji is painted on the tea bowl with flying cranes. In the Shinto religion, Mt. Fuji is regarded as sacred and is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites. Both the cranes and Mt Fuji appear a lot in ceremonies and celebrations around New Year. Cranes refer to hope, success, and good fortune. Mt. Fuji is one of the top three of things to dream of during the first night of the New Year as it is said to be an auspicious omen.

Handling precautions
Initiate the tea bowl first! Let the bowl sit wholly immersed in cold or lukewarm water for a couple of minutes and then let it dry naturally. Matcha patina is natural for white clay, but by initiating the bowl properly, it will develop slower.
After using the tea bowl, rinse it with water. It is better to avoid dishwashing liquid, but you can use gentle, organic soap to clean your bowl. Never use bleach!
Avoid using a dishwasher or dryer!
Avoid placing it on hot surfaces like a stove, and never put it in the microwave or oven.
