Ri Yue Tang Hong Yu

Fermented tea from Taiwan

Ri Yue Tang Hong Yu Ri Yue Tang Hong Yu Ri Yue Tang Hong Yu Ri Yue Tang Hong Yu Ri Yue Tang Hong Yu

The exceptionally large-leafed Hong Yu cultivar is renowned for its refreshing, minty aroma, which is very sensible in this tea along with its fruity - citrusy notes. Its sweet and minty main character reminds of "murasaki imo", a kind of sweet potato, popular for traditional Chinese and Japanese desserts. The notes of fruit jam, honey, grape, and mint blend in perfect harmony and make this tea a very unique and exciting culinary experience.

This tea is organic, it was cultivated without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We still have not acquired the Organic JAS Certification for it, but you can be assured that no artificial chemicals were involved in the production.

STEP 1) Warm your teapot. Pour boiling water into a gaiwan or teapot, let it sit for a little while, then discard all the water.
STEP 2) Put the tea leaves in your vessel, pour boiling water over them in a 3g/100ml ratio, and brew for 60 seconds.
STEP 4) Serve. Pour the tea into a pitcher, and then into cups.
STEP 5) Brew again.

❖ The second infusion shouldn't be longer than 20 seconds, but for the rest, you can increase the steeping time (to about 45-60 seconds).
❖ Make sure to open the lid of the teapot between infusions, to prevent the leaves from cooking.
❖ This is how we recommend brewing this tea, but we all have our preferences, so try experimenting to find the way you like it the most.
