Predominant in ash aroma, but somewhat spicy with a touch of sweetness. Can't pin point exactly what they are. Seems to me this aroma more appropriate for public spaces the likes of office buildings and/or prayer houses. It can be calming, but not for relaxation. It has a distinct presence without being overwhelming.

Although Genroku is my favorite Japanese incense stick, Gozan has almost twice as many sticks that are much longer for about half the price. It has the excellent, mellow scent of good sandalwood. Three sticks, two burning at one end of the room and one at the other, fills a large area with a very pleasant aroma. There is very little smoke but that doesn't stop the scent from covering the whole living space. Although without a doubt I prefer Genroku, such a good incense stick as Gozan at such a low price makes it such a good value I had to give it 5 stars.
